husby says he will be gg to gai gai today and buy things for me. heee. happy. =) he wont be staying with his dad tonite at his penthouse liao. cos he wants to chat with me at the villa. when he was at his dad's place, 3 persons has to share the LAN wire, so we din chat much yesterday plus he and bel had to do alot of things for his dad as well. so only chat a lil bit. will be lookin forward to chatting more with husby tonite.

Nth to do today. think i shall pack my wardrobe and then see what i need to pack for my taiwan trip. then i shall take a nap. heh. i'm lazy. heee..

Decided to do a more constructive entry today. haha. nt jus cos today is vesak day but also i think its quite a gd time to take a step back and look holistically at everything. 2 scary things have happened in the world in the last 2wks. The myanmar cyclone Nargis and china earthquake.
Myanmar cyclone

Cyclone Nargis spared 2.5 million desperate survivors and left at least 134,000 people dead or missing. Its in the papers today that children are officially dying of starvation and the UN Save the Children Organization is pressing for more relief to be provided for the children. As soon as the govt gives the green light, the US reliefs will be going to Myanmar to help them. Hope the procedures do some picking up of their own before casualities increase nt due to the natural disaster but due to inefficient distribution of food and necessities.


China's Earthquake

Its saddening i think. For many provinces in china, 90% abide by the former 1 child policy. For the areas that are struck at the epicentre of the quake, they have lost their safety net and are facing the reality that they have no descendents left, as most of the victims are children who were in school when the 7.8 magnitude quake hit china.

As the death toll hits more than 35000 and china begins 3 days of mourning. Most have given up hope of searching for survivors and are only praying at least they could find the bodies of the victims so that their families can provide them with the proper burial that they deserve. The current urgency now is to ensure that there will be containment from spread of diseases.
Lucky are some who survived the quake, among them is a 12yr old girl who has to have her leg amputated in order to get out of the debris, but she is keeping faith and happy to be alive. A simple thing as drinking coke, is the first request of a small boy who was rescued from being trapped inside a fallen building.








After thoughts

Everyday the front pages of the newspaper is a spread of the aftermath scenes in china and myanmar. It is during times of crisis that humanity truly succumb any form of discrimination, disagreement and hatred between people. People come together to help each other one way or another, to provide physical aid or mental/emotional support.
My advice to people out there who are traveling. purchase travel insurances that will cover natural disasters. The earth is kinda ill, u have to protect yrself.
