Well the 3 girls have been talking about diamonds the entire time after lunch. So I decided to put up an entry about a girl’s best friend.

You know like how girls used to want to catch (or do they still want to?) guys with the 5C. Well well, diamonds also have the 4Cs… namely carat (size), cut (faces), color & clarity.

The carat signifies the size or weight of the diamond. As the size of the diamond goes up, the price also goes up……… exponentially that is.

Cut is simply the design of the diamond.
The most preferred cut is the round (or brilliant) cut, followed by the princess cut.
Somehow, angmohs love princess cut more than the round cut.
There also other cuts, some quite amusing too:
Baguette cut (trapezoid) - reminds me of Shirley. Lol.
Emerald cut (octagon step cut)
Heart cutMarquise cut (pointed oval)
Oval cut
Pear-shaped cut
Rectangle cut
Square (step cut)
Trillion cut

The color follows a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) chart as follow:
D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z
D, E, F - Colorless (most valued)
G, H, I, J - Nearly colorless
K, L, M - Faint yellow
N, O, P, Q, R - Very light yellow
S, T, U, V - Light yellow
If your boy wants to get you a WXYZ, I think you are better off with a topaz stone.
LMAO.

Similarly, clarity also follows a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) chart as follow:
GIA Scale:F, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, S1, S2, S3, I1, I2, I3
F (flawless) is best,
followed by(IF) Internally Flawless,
followed by(VVS) Very, Very Small Inclusions (2 grades)
followed by(VS) Very Small Inclusions (2 grades)
then(SI) Small Inclusions (3 grades),
then(I) Imperfect (3 grades)
If your boy gets you an I….. might as well don’t buy.

So that’s a short gate crash course for diamonds…… *bling bling*



tuesday happenings

Went to kino to look for mags to buy after work. Wanted to get UK Easy Living it was “supposed” to come with a Cath Kidston bag but it didn’t, so didn’t get it. Wanted to also get a mag called switch cos it comes with 2 free champagne glasses worth $48, didn’t arrive yet. So I bought HWM, comes with a free anti-virus software mag costs $6.90, figured it was pretty worth it for the anti virus software.

Estelle and jieying came to kino to look for me, cos I cannot take dinner and hence it would be pointless for me to go dinner with them and get tempted and die at ding tai feng. And she got me my MORE mag!! Comes with a lovely lovely floral bag. Got 2 pcs, 1 of which is to keep and give to my aunt for her birthday. =)

After which we headed to taka, Watsons, crystal jade bread (not to eat, just for estelle to buy bread), MOS burger (to eat…. Drink rather). I had TWO cups of minestrone soup…. Cos after the first cup, I figure I was still hungry and craved for something salty after a long day of having milk and S factor. After much chatting, we went to the taxi queue and shared a cab back.

Went home to a mountain of mails. UOB bill, crabtree & evelyn mailer, LFI letter, stone colored shoes and red dress from HVV, mint colored dress from love+bravery, light demin top from ohvola. Even my dad was question why I have so many parcels… well, a girl loves to shop.

I have to start moving things to adrian’s place to put yet again, cos there isn’t room for dresses anymore at home… plus I also have to do my aunt’s accounting, plus I have to set up a website for adrian’s mom’s products. Hais. Why do I have to slog so hard for cash… sian…
